Art by Kris and Dave Ogden:

Kris's Art:

Kris aka Kirsten-Is probably most well known locally for her colorful tie dyes. She has appeared in many local and regional events. Was with the Artists at Gulf Place in 2008, and has taught the occasional tie dye workshop.

Kris's Artistic voice comes mostly from the use and combination of vibrant color, a theme that transcends any medium she works in. While Tie Dye is her Main Medim, Kris also works in: Acrylics, Watercolor, Fiber(spinning art yarns and needlework) Polymer Clay, Batik and Art Quilting. She is Drawn to Color as well as Circular Themes in the form of Mandalas as pictured at the Right.

SteppingStones

Reminiscient of the Mystical Journey through Spirit. The Chakra-Like Mandalas form stepping stones that the astral traveler can hop along till they reach the source creator.

Dave's Paintings are accomplished with Plaster to provide dimensionality, and various types of paints from acrylic to enamel to craft and glitter paints to produce the shimmering irridescance of the Fish. This Bonded pair have almost soulful expressions, Dave has the unique experiene of being an offshore oilfield Diver. In his younger days, working off the platforms in the Gulf Of Mexico. He retains the Memories of Schools of Fish Swimming Past and Keeping Him Company on His Dives.

Dave also has many years working in the Local construction trade, his carpentry skills are top notch, and he can create 'almost' anything out of wood. His desks sell in the 140.00-300.00 range. reasonable for a piece that is built to last and will live through much abuse. Perfect for rentals that have a lot of traffic.

Here is an example of the rich color that Kris is able to achieve with her tie dyes. The periwinkle blue makes an interesting backround for this reaction rainbow shirt in a free formed wave pattern-Kris

This is a cotton/poly blend sweat jacket, dyed for a friend in fuscia/ purple and orange. On polycotton fleece material ONLY the cotton is on the outside and the poly is on the inside. That is why they can be dyed with fiber reactive dyes without losing the brilliance of color like most poly blends do.-Kris

One of my First attempts at an art doll. This was created for the daughter of my cousin Gina. She was only 5 at the time so I wanted to make her soft, without little pieces that would get torn off and lost. I batiked the body with hot wax and painted on dye. The stitching is embroidery floss which I think adds a nice primitive touch, and the hair is hand spun yarn left over from a skein I bought from Holly.

I hope to make more art dolls in the future, its a wonderful melding of all the arts I love!-Kris
